Stop Slouching! My Top Tips to Help

With so many of us sitting at desks all day long, it's no wonder most of us have posture issues.  Here are some of my favourite yoga-inspired exercises to help you build strength and gain flexibility so you can stop slouching today!


Slouching isn't just bad for your back - it can also be associated with anxiety and poor self esteem.  Think about it - a typical posture for someone who lacks confidence is with the shoulders slouched forward, almost as if they're protecting their heart space.  

From a physiological perspective, slouching will compress the diaphragm, or limit its range of motion, leading to shallow breathing and in some cases anxiety.  Slouching is also associated with chronic neck and upper back tension, a common area for people to have issues with when it comes to headaches and musculoskeletal pain.  

I could go on, but I'm sure you get the point - proper posture goes WAY deeper than appearance.
