Hi, I'm Dr. Jillian Cole and my main prerogative is to help you feel comfortable in your own body and mind. Through the integration of research-based lifestyle, dietary and functional medicine techniques, we work together to create a plan that's realistic for your busy, demanding life and customized to your needs.
I've been there, being completely and utterly unsatisfied with the body I live in. I've spent years of my life focused on "not good enough" with poor body image and trying every avenue to get thin and fit. Through my unending journey of trying to find unrealistic "perfection" in my appearance, I also had the convenience of having to struggle with some rather undesirable side effects like cystic acne, panic attacks, a list of gut issues and an autoimmune thyroid disease.
So yeah, I get it.
I was obsessed with nutrition, I wanted to know everything and anything about it - what the ingredients were of foods, its chemical and macronutrient constituents, how I could replace one ingredient in a recipe with another...this led me to further my obsession academically. I was also fascinated in the power of thought and its influence over our behaviours. These two interests led me to graduate from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Arts and Science, focusing on Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals and Cognitive Neuropsychology. A mouthful.
From there, it was a natural transition into medicine. From my negative experiences of being in the medical system for treatment of an eating disorder, I aligned more with the philosophies and approaches of naturopathic medicine and so pursued a naturopathic doctorate for a total of eight years of formal education.
Fast-track to today.
After over five years of clinical experience, 1000+ hours of patient visits, hundreds of hours of continuing education and my own personal flair to understanding what being "well" really means, I offer an honest, tried-and-true approach to helping you attain and maintain your health goals.
We don't do temporary band-aid solutions here. We do lasting, meaningful change.
